The project involved building a wind energy facility consisting of 37 Turbines, 25 in the Town of Fairfield and 12 in the Town of Norway. These are all 100 meter towers (over 450 feet tall) and are the largest in the country. The project also included an interconnection facility (switch yard) in the Town of Little Falls, 14 miles of gravel access roads, 20 miles of buried cable, 2 permanent 77 meter tall meteorological towers and a maintenance facility.

Contractors on the job included Mortenson, Dyer Construction and Don Borneke Construction – both from Indiana, Northwest Crane Service from Oklahoma, J.P.W. Riggers, Homer Tree Service, The Delaney Group, Complete Conveyor Systems from Illinois, Murphy Installations and Trenton Development.

At one point there were over 65 Operating Engineers on site from Locals 545 and 106, with a few key Operators from the Contractor’s home Locals.
